We Come Crying to God

“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.”

Let’s face it the news this summer has been bad.  Almost every day, at home and abroad the reports have been a constant drum beat of:

War,

Disease,

Suicide

And Shootings.

David in Psalm 34:17 reminds us: “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.”

In times like these we need a Savior

In times like these we need an Anchor

Be very sure

Be very sure

That your anchor holds and grips the solid rock

That rock is Jesus

Yes, He is the one

The word of God tells us in John 15:7

“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

Father, today your righteous servants come to you with a cry for help.

We come crying for peace from War.

From the ethnic violence in South Sudan to the War in Ukraine; innocent children are dying. The old are being neglected and homes have been destroyed.  We ask for your wisdom to stop the fighting and to bring the combatants to your peace.

We come crying for healing from Disease.

Your children in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria are contracting, suffering and dying from Ebola.   We ask you to cure the sick and protect the medical teams that are doing your will.

We come crying for comfort in the aftermath of Suicide.

Father, we are frightened, surprised, and concerned; because we have learned that suicide is the 10th leading causes of death in this nation.  While we are in shock of the numerous suicides, Lord we ask that you give us a genial heart; so we don’t cause any additional harm to each other.  Send a release Father!  So those that are burdened find relief and no longer desire to take the very life that you have given them.

We come crying to stop the Shooting.

Lord we see the cycle of shootings spreading like wildfire in our country; and while we are grieved by the violence we know that it will not end until we turn our prayers to you and ask for:

  •  Better Education
  •  Responsible Parenting
  • Sufficient Paying Jobs

We pray for courage to become missionaries in these plagued cities.

We need your boldness:

  • To spread your word,
  • To provide your help
  • And to your love to your people.

So they will know that there’s still hope and their lives can still be changed.

Let’s face it the news this summer has been bad and Father, that is why we have come crying, Crying to you.
