How Much Do You Believe In Your Faith?

Jesus reminds us that our faith really is not our faith unless and until we believe it.

How much do you believe in your faith?

When asked clearly a majority of us would say that we do.

Jesus in Matthew 8:5-13 gives us a perfect demonstration of what believing in your faith should look like.

The demonstration begins when Jesus arrives in the village of Capernaum where He is greeted by a distressed Roman military officer.

The officer tells Jesus that his servant is sick, can’t walk and is in terrible pain.  Jesus offers to heal the stricken man.

The Roman officer replied by saying that he did not want to put Jesus to all the trouble of going to visit the servant.  Further, He asked Jesus to simply give the order and the servant will be healed.

Jesus stood there amazed! Turning to the crowd he said, “I haven’t seen faith like this in all the land of Israel!   Matthews 8:10 (The Living Bible)

In this passage Jesus reminds us that our faith really is not our faith unless and until we believe it.

Paul tells us in Hebrews 11: 1 (KJV) “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Believing in our faith means that we must:

  • Trust God not only with our problems but our lives
  • Trust God and obey His word
  • Trust God with the full knowledge that what we ask for in faith will be granted in His way.

In order to believe in our faith we must:

  • Commit ourselves to The Word through study; so we will know what we should believe.
  • Commit ourselves to Worship; so we can praise God for the powerful, loving and holy God that we know He is.
  • Commit ourselves to Prayer; which is the manifestation of our faith.

When we believe our faith – we are eligible to receive the same praise that Jesus gave to the Roman captain which was: “Go” because what you believed could happen has happened.”   For at that moment his servant became well.

Therefore again the question is:

How much do you believe in your faith?
